RCMP seize $5-million worth of drugs in Chilliwack-based distribution ring

CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – Police have busted a drug distribution network in Chilliwack, calling it a huge blow to the drug trade in the central and northern Interior.

Sergeant Lindsay Houghton with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit says they recovered several kilograms of marijuana, cocaine, meth, crack, MDMA and, “most importantly, we were able to take almost 13kg of Fentanyl pills off the street. Those, as we all know, are extremely deadly… and those are valued between $3.5 million and $4.5 million.”

Overall, more than $5-million worth of drugs and other items were seized.

Mounties think the drug line was operating between Williams Lake and Fort St. John.

“This is a huge hit to not just this group, but to the drug trade in the north and central regions. This will severely destabilize these groups and the groups in those areas for probably quite some time,” adds Houghton.

Several people have been arrested and more arrests are expected in the coming weeks and months. Charges have not yet been laid.
