The Canucks playoff push continues against the Colorado Avalanche tonight

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Canucks have won three games in a row and seven of their last nine. They hope to continue their recent hot streak against the Colorado Avalanche this evening in game two of a three game homestand.

Vancouver is getting offensive contributions from all over the roster, including defenceman Yannick Weber, who chipped in with his eighth goal of the year on Tuesday against Winnipeg. Weber says the Canucks need to get the victory tonight.

“We have been playing well. We are still getting down one or two goals once in a while and we don’t want to start like that. We are healthy and Eddie Lack is playing great for us. We are showing a lot of confidence out there and it is the right time of the season to do that.”

The Avalanche had mile high expectations for this season, but Colorado could never get it going. The Denver club will miss the playoffs, but Daniel Sedin says they still have the ability to surprise.

“They had a tough start and it is tough to come back when you lose early in the season. I think they have been doing a good job of playing well lately and trying to climb back in to the playoff race. Tonight is a must win for us and a must win for them too, so it is going to be fun.”

The two teams have split the season series so far, each winning one game.

Eddie Lack gets the start in net for Vancouver, and Coach Willie Desjardins has full faith that his goalie can get the job done.

“I have always stated Lack is a really good goalie. I think at the start of the year things didn’t go his way. It was tough because he didn’t get in to games back to back, so it was really hard for him to get on a role. I think lately he has been able to get in to the flow of the game and he has played really well for us.”

The puck drops at 7 p.m. You can watch it on Sportsnet Pacific. Listen for game updates every 10 minutes on the fives.
