VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Capilano University students get to sleep in tomorrow. The university says beginning Wednesday, April 8th at 7am all classes are cancelled at all campuses: North Vancouver, Squamish and Sunshine Coast.

In a statement on the school’s website today, the Capilano Faculty Association advised the university that it intends to engage in full-scale strike action which means “the faculty will withdraw all services and establish a picket line.”

The university says it working on “developing contingency measures that will ensure students successfully complete their courses and programs, as close to the original schedule as is feasible.” Final exams are still set to go ahead as planned.

The university and the CFA met with a mediator today. While the university and teachers have come to agreements on wages, the sticking point is believed to be the union’s control over layoffs.
