Province defends implementation of liquor changes

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s Justice Minister is defending the roll-out of liquor law changes last week after heavy criticism about the way it has been handled.

Some business owners called the whole thing very confusing.

“I think that was a very small minority saying that. The vast majority came to webinars, worked closely with the liquor distribution branch. They knew what was going on and they were ready for it,” says Justice Minister Suzanne Anton.

She thinks the entire roll-out of changes went smoothly.

“One of the opposition critics said well it was a non-event. That was a tremendous compliment when I know how much work went into that change on the first of April. It was a terrific amount of work. People were up all night long working that night and working for months ahead of time and it went so smoothly.”
