TSAWWASSEN (NEWS1130) – The Amber Alert issued for Alysha Lyle Valdes has been cancelled.
The mother of 18-month became worried when the girl’s father David Lyle took the child from the house without consent at around 10:30 this morning.
Delta Police say it was a sharp-eyed Merritt RCMP officer who spotted Lyle’s red Ford Escape on a highway out there.
He has been arrested and Alysha is safe with police and will be reunited with her mother.
Acting Sergeant Sarah Swallow says this was the first time municipal police have activated an Amber Alert in the Lower Mainland. ” It went as well as we can hope and it had this great outcome and I really put a lot of it down to the fact that the message was able to get out into
widespread media so quickly.”
Police say there was a domestic custody incident between the parents shortly before the girl went missing.
The alert was active for under an hour.
