Canucks and Flames back at Rogers Arena tonight for Game 2

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks need a win tonight or they will face a big challenge when they head back to Cow-town.

Some critics think the home team lost to the Flames on Wednesday because they’re too old compared to those whipper-snappers from Calgary.

But Rick Dhaliwal in the News1130 Sports Centre doesn’t buy it.

“In the first 48 minutes the Canucks basically carried the play and had the better of the play. So, I don’t know why they would be ruled as the team that’s [aging] when they had such a good first 48 minutes and basically had breakdowns in the final 12 minutes.”

“The Canucks’ age was not a reason why they lost that opening game. They just had a couple breakdowns that they didn’t want in the final 12 minutes and you lose the game in the last 30 seconds.”

Another big question is whether Eddie Lack will get the start between the pipes again.

“Eddie Lack was not the reason the Canucks lost the opener,” says Dhaliwal. “Lack made 30 saves; he made one less than Jonas Hiller. I would be shocked if Lack isn’t the goaltender tonight.”

But Dhaliwal says whether Ryan Miller could take over at some point is the great unknown.

“When he’s healthy, he will play — that’s the perception that everybody’s got. He’s the guy making $6 million a year. He was the number one goaltender in the regular season. But when he gets healthy, that’s the million-dollar question: Will he get in right away?”
