GST being removed from feminine hygiene products July 1st

OTTAWA (NEWS1130) – After petitioning for change, Canadian women are getting their way.
As of July 1st, the federal government is getting rid of the GST on feminine hygiene products.
It follows the House of Commons unanimously adopting a motion calling for the change earlier this month.
The NDP-led proposal was prompted by a nation-wide campaign.
Removing the tax has been estimated to cost Ottawa about $33 million.
