Summer-like weather expected this weekend

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – It doesn’t feel like summer now, but it will by the weekend.

“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but it’s an absolute lock that your first weekend of June will not only be sunny, but will have temperatures soaring to near-record highs,” says NEWS 1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate.

He expects 25 degrees on the beaches this weekend. “That’s going to be with a very high UV Index. You’ve got to be mindful to apply the sunscreen; you don’t want to get burned this weekend.”

It’ll heat up even more in the Fraser Valley.

“It will be 30 degrees under a blue sky lasting right through Sunday,” says Russ.

For today, Russ expects the sky to slowly clear for afternoon sunny periods and high of 20. He sees more sunshine tomorrow with a high of 22.
