Cancer research database now online

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A massive new database for cancer research is now online, and looking for people like you to provide information about yourself.

The Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project is a tool those involved feel could be crucial to finding new treatments.

For Bob Almasi, who lives in Langley, signing up for the project was a no brainer.

“Cancer’s a horrible disease and it’s affected my family and the more we can get involved, and other people get involved, we can eradicate this thing one day,” Almasi says. “That’s the ultimate goal. I think we’re a ways from that but every little bit helps.”

He lost his dad to pancreatic cancer, and his brother has had treatments for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“If we look back at our history, even 10 years ago, our sciences and medicines have evolved so much over that little period of time, so I’m nothing but optimistic this is going to have positive effects,” says Almasi.

There are 29,000 people who have enrolled in this province, with 300,000 across the country.
