Deadly shooting in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – People in the Cloverdale area of Surrey woke up this morning to police tape around a home and black tarp on the front lawn.

It comes after a deadly shooting near 64th Avenue and 165th Street. It was the second incident of gun violence in less than 24 hours in the community.

Neighbopurs say they heard gunshots around 11:30 p.m. and called police, who apparently found one person dead at a house at the end of a cul-de-sac.

“My landlord was out; he told me what happened,” says one neighbour. “I said ‘Oh my god.’ In this neighbourhood? It’s such a good neighbourhood.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in. Both marked and unmarked police cars were in front of the home this morning.

IHIT says one person has been arrested, but hasn’t released any other details.

Early yesterday morning, there was after another shooting in Surrey at a bakery near Fraser Highway and 188th Street. Nobody was hurt in that case.
