VANCOUVER – The issue of campaign finance reform is coming up again at Vancouver City Hall today, but with an added twist.
Besides a ban on corporate and union donations, Green Party Councillor Adriane Carr also wants to see a cap on those contributions.
“What’s new in my motion is I am calling for an overall spending limit of $5,000 for any individual.”
Carr’s motion also calls for letting only people who live in B-C make donations.
“The source of contributions and the amount per individual, to put a cap on that and to put a ban the kind of corporate donations especially from the development industry that really creates in the public’s mind a conflict of interest,” says Carr.
The next civic election is set for 2018.
