City Hall making a statement to protect the rights of minorities: Activist

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver’s City Hall is celebrating the start of Pride Week by raising the Trans Flag along with the Pride Flag for the first time.

Chair of the Trans Alliance Society, Morgane Oger says this change shows the city is progressing.

“It means that City Hall is aware that transgendered people have the same rights as everybody else, needs to have the same rights as everybody else, and that we need to have our rights protected as a minority and that it’s not okay to discriminate against us.”

Oger adds there are more transgender people in BC than there are redheads and it’s time to recognize them with the same rights as everybody else.

She invites everybody to come show their support and join the fun at the Pride Parade this weekend.

NEWS 1130 will be in attendance and will have full coverage.
