Draft conditions of Kinder Morgan’s pipeline to be released today

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The National Energy Board is set to release its draft conditions for review of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion today — but several major players have upstaged the announcement.

The Wilderness Committee, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and 33 private citizens say they won’t take part because the process is biased and unfair.

Critics accuse the NEB of excluding oral cross-examination, under-valuing First Nations input and failing to consider how pipeline expansion will affect climate change.

The energy board says the withdrawals are disappointing because participants could have influenced the outcome of Kinder Morgan’s plans to triple the bitumen-carrying capacity of its Trans Mountain line, running from Alberta to Metro Vancouver.
