Surrey RCMP holding another round of community crime forums

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Surrey Mounties are holding another round of community crime forums throughout the city this fall, similar to ones held back in January.

A series of shootings in Surrey has left people on edge, but the RCMP says the meetings are part of a long-term effort to be proactive and are not in reaction to the violence.

Police say the presentations were attended by nearly 700 people and were well-received.

They give neighbours data on local crime trends, police initiatives, property crime, and how to report suspicious activity.

The meetings will be held between October 13th and October 29th at elementary schools across the city:

Boundary Park Neighbourhood – October 13th at Boundary Park Elementary (6:30pm)
Whalley/City Centre Neighbourhood – October 14th at David Brankin Elementary (6:30pm)
Guildford Neighbourhood – October 15th at Bonaccord Elementary (6:30pm)
South Meridian Neighbourhood – October 28th at South Meridian Elementary (6:30pm)
Cloverdale Neighbourhood – October 29th at Martha Currie Elementary (6:30pm)

You don’t have to register to attend any of the meetings.
