Death of Amanda Todd still changing how we see bullying three years later: mom

By

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – It was three years ago today, Amanda Todd, a 15-year-old girl from Coquitlam took her own life.

Amanda’s death was tragic, but her mother, Carol, is starting to see how her daughter’s fight, the cyberbullying she endured, is having a positive impact on other people’s lives.

Todd says the video her daughter posted online, articulating her struggle, is allowing people, she says giving them permission, to have a discussion about bullying, and the effects it has.

“Amanda was a catalyst right, someone called her a transformative angel, that she was put on this earth for a reason and then taken off the earth for a reason and I’m beginning to feel this may be the case because Amanda left behind a story.”

October 10th marks World Mental Health Day — a chance to bring awareness to mental health and cyberbullying issues.
