Federal election polls in BC open until 7 p.m.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The curtain has fallen on the most expensive election campaign in modern Canadian history and polling stations are open across Metro Vancouver and the rest of the country.

In the early hours, it was taking voters about a half hour to do their democratic duty at many Lower Mainland polling stations. Line-ups at Creekside Community Centre in Vancouver began at around 6:30 a.m. ahead of opening at 7 a.m.

Most people we spoke with say this election is one of the most important in recent memory.

“I think it’s important for everybody to get out to vote. It doesn’t matter who you’re voting for. It’s an important message to send to all politicians that people are paying attention.”

NEWS 1130 will have real-time results online as soon as polls close across Canada (starting 4 p.m. with results in Atlantic Canada).
