The Canucks ready to battle the Wild

By

SAINT PAUL, MN (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks begin a four-game road trip tonight in Minnesota when they take on one of the league’s best home teams in the Wild.

With is , the Canucks desperately need to find a way to turn their momentum around or they could very well find themselves outside the playoff picture by the time this trip wraps up on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Vancouver is certainly aware of the importance getting off to a good start although it couldn’t have been handed a tougher opponent to begin this trip with than a Wild team that has lost just once in nine home games this season.

Ryan Miller will get the start in net and rookie Jake Virtanen slots back in the lineup. Sven Baertschi will sit this game out.

Coach Willie Desjardins will be looking for Virtanen to play physical. “He’s got to stay in the battle, and that’s kind of a theme for our team – we have to be in the battle more. For a young player that’s something you have to work on as you grow in the league.”

The Canucks continue to be without Brandon Sutter and Ben Hutton as both of those players have remained behind in Vancouver to rehab injuries. Sutter is dealing with an abdominal strain. Hutton has an injured foot.

Puck drop is at 4 p.m. on Sportsnet.
