VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – More than 300,000 people are expected to cram into Vancouver’s downtown core on Sunday for one of the highlights of the holiday season. The 12th Annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade gets underway at 1 p.m. and you won’t want to miss it.

“This year’s parade is going to be the best parade ever. We expect another 300,000 or so people to come out to the parade this year. We have tons of pre-parade entertainment,” says Rogers Regional Vice-President Gord Nelson.

You’re also being encouraged to give to those in need, especially to those using the services of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank which can really stretch your dollar.

“We have the opportunity to convert that $1 into $3 worth of healthy food that we need for our members who we supply with food every week,” explains bank Director Aart Schuurman Hess.

Pre-parade festivities including face-painting for the kids and writing letters to Santa Claus will begin at about 10:30 a.m.
