VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It wasn’t just about bringing the kids out to see Santa, but also a chance to remember just how much some people in out community need a little help sometimes.
The food bank had a number of tents set up at the Rogers Santa Claus Parade
The Santa Claus parade has raised over $100,000 for the Food bank, and Art Schuurman Hess, the CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, knows the service is used by twenty six and a half thousand people every single week, and events like parades are a great way to remind the community, we have to take care of each other.
“It’s also a day to create awareness, awareness about hunger. Hunger is around 365 days a year and that’s why we’re here, and it’s a day for people to enjoy themselves but also to understand there is hunger in our community.”
He says you never know who may be using the food bank, it could be family, friends, and co-workers.
