Housing tops Google’s most searched topics in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Google is out with its most searched terms of the year and not surprisingly, Metro Vancouver’s top trends are related to housing.

“Real estate is always a conversation topic in BC. We looked at trending neighbourhoods and Kitsilano is out-pacing Yaletown and Gastown by about 20 per cent and remains the most searched area of downtown,” says Aaron Brindle with Google.

But it goes even further.

“When you look at how to become a real estate agent or real estate license searches, we see a tremendous amount of interest in both Toronto and Vancouver. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these happen to be the hot real estate markets in this country,” he adds.

But maybe the most interesting thing is the relationship between housing, and paint.

“What’s really fascinating is if you look at correlations between white paint searches and new home sale searches, there’s a very close correlation between those two searches and white paint searches were highest in Vancouver,” says Brindle”

He adds, nobody should be shocked by the results.

“We know the real estate market remains very hot in Vancouver so it’s not surprising to see searches that kind of orbit around this economic reality.”

Canada-wide, the Blue Jays topped the list of search terms.
