Last-minute gift-giving tips from a personal shopper

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – You’ve got a little over two days left to cross the final items off of that Christmas gift list.

But so do thousands of other people.

So getting those final pieces of the holiday present puzzle can be quite a challenge.

“When there are big crowds it can a little bit more stressful. So having fewer people trying to do what you’re trying to do can help keep the stress down,” says personal shopper Jen Garces, Your Everyday Stylist.

So how do the professionals do it?

Try to take advantage of those extended hours many stores offer and make them work for you.

“You’re going to find less crowds first thing in the morning. If you’re still working leading up to Christmas, getting the shopping done even before you go to the office can happen. That’s definitely helpful,” says Garces.

Some things are more common sense but she says it’s surprising how many people forget the basics.

“Have a plan. I realize this late in the game, maybe the plan has slipped through the cracks. But if you know what it is you’re looking for or who you’re shopping for, that definitely can also help make it an easier experience,” adds Garces.

It’s even better if you can avoid doing that shopping in-person.

“Tickets to a show are a really awesome present. They don’t require you to go into any store.”

And it’s something to look forward to.
