VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The BC Cancer Foundation’s interim president says they lost about $10,000 worth of computers and other property when their West Broadway office was ransacked not once, but twice over the holidays.
Lou Del Gobbo says the thief, or thieves, didn’t take any donations, or donor information.
“Our donor information was secured on our network drives so none of that was compromised. We usually have cash and checks and those were all deposited. We never keep that on site.”
Del Gobbo says the theft has been hard on morale at the office.
“Someone stoops to that level to steal from a charity? It’s mostly the ransacking of the office that hurts the most.”
It is unclear if police have identified any suspects. The first incident happened overnight, into the early hours of the New Year. The second happened two days later on Sunday.
Del Gobbo says they speaking with their landlord to figure out a better security system.
