North Shore Rescue receives new life-saving equipment

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – North Shore Rescue has been handed several devices that will make their operations much easier during helicopter long line and rope rescues and it’s all thanks to a donation by TB Vets.

Team Leader Mike Danks says the autopulse automatic CPR device, otherwise known as an Oxylator, will basically allow members to administer oxygen hands-free to a patient.

“If we have a patient that is not breathing, then we can set this machine up to breath for them during transport over ground or in the air.”

“You can’t do this in flight, that’s the challenge, or when you’re moving along the trail — it would be incredibly challenging.”

The announcement by the team comes just days ahead of the two-year anniversary of the sudden death of late North Shore Rescue leader Tim Jones.
