VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Taking care of our loved ones as they age is no easy task. The United Way is releasing a guide to help people deal with tough scenario’s like health problems, legal matters and counselling.
“There’s lots of information on healthcare. There’s information on dementia, hearing loss, medication, there’s also a section on legal issues, like how to prepare a representation agreement,” says Jennifer Young with the United Way.
Young believes it also a showing of support.
“I think the important thing is to know that they’re not in it alone, that there are a lot of resources available for people who care for seniors.”
Young says nearly a third of unpaid senior caregivers are distressed.
“For anybody out there who is caring for a senior and needing to deal with transitions in their life, this will be incredibly important to them.”
