VPD says motorcyclist hit police officer on Knight Street Bridge

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Charges could be the next step after a Vancouver Police officer was hit today on the Knight Street Bridge.

“The officer was doing static laser enforcement for speeders,” explains Constable Brian Montague.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. at the north end of the bridge, where the officer was trying to flag over a motorcyclist.

“When we review the video and speak to the witnesses, we’ll get a clearer picture of exactly how this played out.”

The officer apparently has lower body injuries and some broken ribs but is expected to be okay.

Montague says they will likely recommend charges of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

At one point, the Knight Street Bridge was completely closed to traffic.
