Some of the dogs taken from a Langley puppy mill are ready to be adopted

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s been a long journey for the animals seized at a Langley puppy mill at the beginning of the month. The first 23 of 66 dogs are ready to be adopted.

It was one of the largest puppy mill seizures in BC history. The dogs and puppies had all kinds of medical problems from broken bones to missing eyes. All of them had ringworm. The animals have been at the Vancouver BC SPCA location since they were seized on February 4th.

Now, 23 of the dogs are healthy enough to leave the Vancouver SPCA and head for their forever homes.

But physical problems aren’t all for these dogs according to Lorie Chortyk with the BC SPCA. That’s why anyone wishing to adopt one of the dogs needs to attend an info session first. “These dogs have very special needs. We really want to make sure that anyone who’s interested in putting in an application truly understands what they’re in for in terms of the ongoing care and special attention these dogs will need. Only the people that come to the information session and learn about this and learn about the individual dogs and their needs will actually be able to put in an application.”

She says the other animals are still being treated and will be released for adoption when they’re healthy.

The sessions will be held at 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm in Room 1228B at Vancouver Community College, 1155 East Broadway.
