Hundreds of items up for grabs at the VPD auction, including bikes, musical instruments, and jewelry

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The annual Vancouver Police Recovered Goods Auction is happening today. It kicked off this morning, and will run until the goods run out.

Rob Kavanagh with Able Auction says there are hundreds of items up for grabs, including bikes, musical instruments, jewelry and designer bags.

“That Penny Farthing bike, that’s a weird thing. I’ve never come across one of those before. It’s got the large wheel in the front and the small one at the bottom. That is pretty unique,” he explains. “There is a watch here appraised at about $12,500, [and] a nice ladies gold diamond bracelet for $11,500.”

Not everybody is looking for something new, Shaun came out to try and find his stolen bike.

“I’m hoping to see if it could still be here,” he says. “[Selling it off] seems like the best thing to do, they can’t really do anything with it, and they can’t keep it locked up forever.”

The auction hopes to bring in about $200,000, with the money going into city coffers.

It is taking place at 1055 Vernon Drive.
