Expect changes to Burquitlam

BURQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – In the next few years, you’re going to start seeing some changes to an area where Burnaby meets Coquitlam.

Raul Allueva, Coquitlam’s general manager of Parks and Recreation, says the city has decided to move forward with a partnership that will bring new recreational facilitates and other developments to Burquitlam.

“We will get a major community recreation facility, the Coquitlam YMCA, the city is also looking to have a community police station, some additional community space as wells as some additional park and ride parking to support the future Burquitlam evergreen line.”

Allueva says the 2.2 acre Cottonwood Park will also be more than doubled in size to make up for the developments in Burquitlam Park.

The hope is to have everything opened by 2021 with an early estimated cost between $40-50 Million.
