Early problems for people trying to book BC campsites

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Crowds of campers trying to access the BC Parks reservation system had some troubles this morning. The very popular website seems to have run into a few glitches.

There is always a rush to book popular campsites when the reservation system opens up.

There have been complaints on social media, as the booking system was slowing down and hanging. BC Parks says the website had three times the expected traffic volume.

Environment Minister Mary Polak told us yesterday they expected it to be busy as people tried to log on.

“[They’ll be] sitting in front of their laptops and smartphones, I’m sure, waiting for the 7 a.m. kickoff for those popular campsites,” she said.

“We’re trying to increase availability more and more each year,” she added.

Slowdowns is something the site has experienced in previous years, as people rush to reserve their favourite campsites.
