BELLA COOLA (NEWS 1130) – How far would you go to help your ailing spouse? One Bella Coola man is going great distances for his wife with multiple sclerosis.

Tim Michalchuck’s wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis six years ago, after she started to feel cold and numb in her hands and feet. Now he’s walking 1100 kilometres from Prince George to Penticton and then to Vancouver to raise awareness and funds for his wife.

He says the funds are for stem-cell treatment for his wife’s MS. “Raise some funds to get my spouse some stem-cell therapy and see if we can try stopping this thing in its tracks.”

Michalchuck says he’s raised some local support already, with a William’s Lake shop donating new shoes for his walk. He says at 35 kilometres per day, he hopes to make it to the MS clinic at UBC by the end of the month.
