Pattullo Bridge closed this weekend, re-opening on Monday before the morning rush

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Another weekend closure for the Pattullo Bridge means thousands of drivers have to plan alternative.
New Westminster City Councillor Chuck Puchmayr says whenever the Pattullo is closed, it shows just how much farther it is to get from the South Fraser Perimeter Road to Highway One.
He says to cross the north Fraser from Highway 17 is a 26 extra kilometres using the new Port Mann, versus only five kms on the Pattullo. “So they have actually created a situation where for large trucks and people doing commerce it is significant. [It is] five times the distance to use the South Fraser Perimeter Road and the Port Mann Bridge, plus on top of that you are paying a toll.”
He says their count shows 20,000 fewer vehicles a day are using the Port Mann thanks to what he calls a design flaw.
