British MP killed outside constituency office in London

By

LONDON, UK. (NEWS 1130) – An MP has died after being shot and stabbed during an attack on the sidewalk near her constituency office in London this morning.

Jo Cox, a Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was left bleeding on the ground, say witnesses. The 41-year-old was rushed to the hospital but passed away from her injuries shortly after. A 77-year-old man also suffered some injuries in the attack.

Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection and they say they’re not looking for anyone else.

There are several reports Cox tried to break-up an argument. Some witnesses say that argument was about the upcoming referendum, with one man shouting, ‘Britain First.’

In light of the death, both sides of the British European referendum debate have ‘suspended campaigning.’
