VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A new survey from Rogers finds an estimated 2.7 million British Columbians will be travelling this summer and 80 per cent of the trips will be somewhere in Canada.

But Vancouver travel writer Marc Smith says we are still packing our passports. “Over a million folks from British Columbia are still going to be travelling to the US this summer and over 186,000 British Columbians are going to be going to Europe.”

And most travellers would rather forget to pack underwear than forget their smartphone. “I mean I can’t live without it. I would rather leave my credit card at home, I would rather catch a cold or perhaps even having the airline lose my luggage.”

The survey also finds most vacationers are still reluctant to use their devices because they’re afraid of roaming charges, although he says that’s changing.
