VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There’s now a new online tool to resolve strata and small claims disputes in BC.
The Civil Resolution Tribunal‘s (CRT) goal is to give strata claims a home and a clear path to resolution, while unclogging the court system by diverting small claims.
The pay-to-use system is available 24/7 online and nearly everything is handled in the digital realm.
Condo Home Owners Association Director Tony Gioventu praises the system for property owners.
“What it means is that the barriers to be able to access solutions in their communities are going to be taken down. They will have easy access to justice, easy access to dispute resolution.”
He says the online tool will help break down barriers.
“It’s been very difficult for strata councils and individual owners to be able to access the court system because of cost, because of time, and even because of the barriers that are built within the legislation because of the voting requirements that are there.”
Right now, the CRT is only accepting strata disputes and expects to start taking small claims in the spring.
