VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — While tickets on sales websites like StubHub drop significantly ahead of the Tragically Hip’s concert in Vancouver, you might not like what you’re getting.
Some tickets are listed at about $100 for tonight’s show and about $70 for Tuesday.
Kingsley Bailey, a Vancouver ticket broker, says there is a reason they’ve dropped from the roughly $800 prices he saw earlier.
“If they’re not great seats, people aren’t paying for them,” Bailey says. “If you want to go to a show and you just want to be in the building, you can get in really good for the show tonight.”
Bailey advises against waiting to the last minute to try and get better ticket deals for concerts in general.
“I would basically say get it early, because if you procrastinate you never know which way it will go. It can go great, where it will drop the prices, or it can just go even higher and you would have wished you could have got in early.”
Fans who will be heading to Rogers Arena tonight can expect a very Canadian experience for the farewell tour.
Ocean 98.5 announcer Mel Z in Victoria attended the Tragically Hip’s first show of the tour on Friday night.” The imagery that ran up on the screen went deep into Canadiana. They went with really what just touched us all with this band and setting the tone for this country and Canadian music over the last 20 some years.”
She says you can also expect a few tears and long line-ups for Tragically Hip merchandise.
