VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – You can say good-bye to your diet if you’re heading down to the PNE this year.

There are dozens of different food options at the Fair this year, including the infamous deep fried pickle corn dog. The Mac and Cheese stuffed burger features the burger stuffed with the Canadian classic.

Laura Ballance with the PNE says there are plenty of picks for people who are adventurous. “What we’re seeing is some of the weird and the wacky because that is kind of fun and it’s become part of the fair culture,” she explains. “[And] some great locally owned businesses that have entered the food truck industry.”

Ballance adds there is something for anyone. “From healthy to deep fried, from different ethnic offerings to fair staples. I think what we’ve done a good job at showcasing a lot of locally sourced businesses.”

Deep fried coffee

The Slumdog Millionaire Mac and Cheese is part of a menu named after several Hollywood blockbusters. It features the classic dish with a curry twist.

Of course, there are a variety of deep fried dishes, including tequila shots or if you want to try something sweet there are deep fried Oreo churros.

Ballance says one of her favourite foods at the Fair this year are deep fried coffee bites.
If you want a real challenge, try the Hercules Burger which is 10-pounds or you could stick with the classics like a perogies from Hunky Bill’s.
