VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police say fentanyl has been found in virtually all street drugs in the city.
The highly potent chemical has been blamed for a rise in overdoses across the Lower Mainland.
VPD Staff Sgt Randy Fincham says people are putting their lives at risk when taking these drugs.
“If you are recreational or habitual drug user, you are playing a game of Russian roulette when you’re taking street drugs. the quantity of fentanyl that might be found in those drugs are going to vary from drug to drug, from supplier to supplier,” says Fincham.
“You’re running the risk that fentanyl will be found in the drugs you’re using, whether it’s cocaine, whether it’s oxycontin.”
Fincham says officers have not found fentanyl in marijuana.
