Whitecaps winless in their last seven league matches after scoreless draw in LA

LOS ANGELES (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver coach Carl Robinson wanted his to go for the win rather than sit back for a draw in LA. His team applied pressure to start the game, but couldn’t sustain it in a 0-0 draw.

The Whitecaps offensive struggled on the road continued, the team has not scored a goal away from home in five league matches and failed to makeup ground in the standings.

With only three points to show out of their last seven games, their chances at making the postseason continue to dwindle.

Vancouver carried the play through most of the half. Forward Erik Hurtado had two chances to break the scoreless tie. In the 8th minute his header off a Giles Barnes cross hit the bar, then in the 24th he headed a ball from Pedro Morales just wide.

The Galaxy struggled with the long ball in the first 45. To make matters worse for LA, midfielder Steven Gerrard left the game with a hamstring injury in the 31st minute.

Whitecaps keeper David Outsted and Galaxy goalie Brian Rowe only had to make one save each in the first half, keeping it scoreless going into the break.

Neither team generated much offensively through the first 15 minutes of the second half. The Galaxy had a great opportunity to score the games first goal in the 63rd minute. LA midfielder Sebastian Lletget was alone outside the box, but his shot was stopped by Ousted.

LA maintained possession throughout the second half but were unable to score.
