Vancouver police issue fresh warning about high risk sex offender

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Police are once again warning the public about 45-year-old Michael Wayne Carpenter, a high-risk sex offender now living in a Vancouver halfway house.

Carpenter has a long history of sexual assault convictions. Police say he poses a significant risk to women and girls.

Last August, Carpenter was released from prison after serving eight years for charges of sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, and uttering threats, prompting police to issue a similar public warning. He is now on a decade-long supervision order.

Under his release conditions, Carpenter is barred from buying or using alcohol and drugs, having or owning a computer, being in the presence of any woman under the age of 18 with certain exceptions. He also can’t access pornography, or go to Kamloops BC.

Anyone who sees him breaking any of his release conditions is asked to call 911 immediately.

Carpenter is described as white, 5’9″ tall, 180 lbs., with short brown hair and blue eyes.
