Eat a burger, have a beer and raise money for North Shore Rescue

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – One of the province’s busiest search and rescue teams is asking for your help this weekend. On Saturday, North Shore Rescue is holding a fundraiser for the Tim Jones Legacy Fund and sustainable funding to run its operations.

All White Spot locations in North Vancouver are participating and the team says $1 from every burger entree, and $0.25 from every 20-ounce Nat’s Pale Ale or Lager by Granville Island Brewing will be donated.

“We have such amazing support from the community, again, I think this is great example of the community rallying around our team,” says Team Leader Mike Danks.

He says they’re still short of reaching their goal for the legacy fund. “We’re currently at about $600,000. We’re hoping to get it up to $6 million which will provide sustainable funding on an annual basis for us.”

NSR members will be at the Park & Tilford location between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to speak with you about what they do, and how to enjoy the local mountains safety.

The team is on track to break last year’s record of calls-out and it says it gets most of operational budget through grants and donations.
