BC Conservatives pick Dan Brooks as their party leader

PRINCE GEORGE (NEWS 1130) – A familiar face will once again lead the BC conservative Party.

Dan Brooks was named the winner in a two-day leadership convention in Prince George yesterday with 52 per cent party support. The runner-up Konrad Pimiskern of Kelowna earned 47.9 per cent of the vote.

“This time I pledge to be the leader you need and deserve instead of worrying about the internal office politics of this party. I’m going to be looking at the big picture politics, the big vision…….how we are going to fix British Columbia and how we are going to make British Columbia the place of envy in Canada,” Brooks says.

“We have struggled in the past as BC Conservatives, but I hope in the next six to eight months as we prepare for the election that we come together united…..and that we work collectively to make sure our voice is heard on the provincial stage.”

Brooks also lead the party in 2014 but stepped down last year saying he needed to support his family and Vanderhoof guide-outfitting business. He later told delegates that was a mistake.

He will join the Liberal’s Christy Clark, the New Democrat’s John Horgan, and the Green’s Andrew Weaver on the ballot in the 2017 provincial election.
