Hindus around the world celebrate Diwali this weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Millions of Hindus across the globe — including a large group here in Vancouver — will be celebrating Diwali this weekend.
This year, the holiday falls on Sunday, but many Hindus will also celebrate on Saturday.
Diwali — the festival of lights — celebrates the victory of light over darkness.
As part of the festivities, Indians decorate their homes and light little clay pots called diyas in each room of the home, as well as outside.
Diwali principally honours the Hindu goddess of wealth.
Several celebrations will be held throughout the city
