Robbery suspect shot and killed in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – One man is dead and a police officer is in hospital after being stabbed in an alleged robbery at an East Vancouver Canadian Tire store.
Just after after 3:00 p.m. Thursday a man entered the Canadian Tire near Grandview Hwy and Rupert Street and police were called to a robbery in progress. Police say during the incident a store employee was stabbed.
Police confronted the man as he ran from the store. During the arrest the man stabbed an officer multiple times. Police shot the suspect and he died at the scene.
The officer and Canadian Tire employee were rushed to hospital and both are currently in stable condition.
The Independent Investigations Office has been notified of the incident.

Photographs and video showed a large police presence outside the store at Grandview and Rupert streets.
On Twitter, police are asking the public to avoid that area and find alternate routes.
