VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Hunting is on the rise across the province, according to the BC Wildlife Federation.
Women and youth making up the fastest growing section of hunters.
Jesse Zeman with the BCWF says it’s because people are looking for healthy meat, and are also starting to look at the social side of hunting.
“Re-connection with nature and also spending time with friends and family has become a huge part of it, so kind of at the social structure of families and it’s changing and people really want to go out and experience the outdoors together.”
Zeman is seeing a growing trend across the entire province, and says it’s also being noticed around North America.
He adds sustainability is another reason we’re seeing a shift toward hunting and fishing, with people wanting to be more connected with nature.
