RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – Check with your airline if you’re catching a flight today.
There are no delays right now, but Vancouver International Airport is bracing for a challenging weather weekend
Eighty pieces of snow-removal equipment have been working around the clock to keep runways and aprons safe for aircraft and passengers.
VP of operations at YVR, Steve Hankinson, says they’ve been training for this weather for months.
“Every year we begin thinking about and planning for snow in August and the late summer and it includes practicing and ensuring and training all the employees who operate the equipment, that they know how to clear the snow and now, practice is real.”
He encourages anyone catching a flight this weekend to give themselves extra time to arrive, and of course check that it’s still on schedule.
