Parking is the biggest holiday stress in the Lower Mainland: Poll

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A lot of people hitting the malls this weekend.

The biggest holiday stress people have is outside the store — people trying to find a parking spot.

The Insights West poll found 73 per cent of people in Metro Vancouver hate holiday parking the most, with almost half saying they don’t like having to rely on public transit either.

Pollster Mario Canseco says it’s also a financial issue.

“It’s one of those situations where, if you’re not used to making more trips than you have to because you have to go to the store, because you have to go to parties, because you have to do something different, it’s the money you spend and actually the stress of trying to find a spot where you can find a spot to park your car is making you more uneasy.”

He says more than 90 per cent of those asked want more buses and SkyTrain access.

More than a third of Metro Vancouverites say they decided not to go to a holiday event because of a lack of transportation options.
