SURREY (NEWS 1130) – It’s just a few days until Christmas, but Santa is making some special time for sick kids in the Metro Vancouver area.
The jolly man flew in with some Christmas joy at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Since the reindeer only fly on Christmas, Santa opted for a helicopter to get to all the hospitals today.
The halls echoed with the sound of silver bells as old St. Nick went room to room delivering presents and hoping to bring a smile to kids going through a tough time.
Five-year-old Jitha was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and may be spending Christmas in the hospital. His father Sri Padmanbar says the visit from Santa means a lot to the family.
“We usually go to the Christmas parties and meet friends and other families. This time we would be missing Santa Claus and all the parties,” says Padmanbar, adding he’s thankful for the visit so they didn’t have to miss out on holiday cheer.
Meantime, two-year-old Parker and him mom were waiting in the ER due to an allergic reaction. They were surprised to get a visit from Santa, who gave Parker a brand new snowman toy.
“Merry Christmas, Santa!” says Parker.
