There is more snow in the forecast

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Have you waved the white flag dealing with all this cold weather? If so, you aren’t the only one. This colder than usual winter is paying off not only for salt companies, but for local travel agencies which have seen business heat up┬árecently.

“We are getting multiple new inquiries everyday with the weather,” explains Carly Renshaw from Vancouver-based Renshaw Travel.

She adds this year has been busier than in years past with the cold having an impact on business. While many locals have already booked trips to escape this winter, Renshaw says there have been a wave of calls this week from people telling her they’re ready to go anytime. “I’ve got a lot of people calling saying, ‘I’m ready to go this week,'” says Renshaw, “What’s available? What’s a good deal right now? What do you recommend?”

While deals are out there, Renshaw says this isn’t typically a cheap time to be travelling. The popular spots to be visiting for many across the Lower Mainland are Disneyland and Hawaii. But this year, people seem to be adaptable and willing to roll with anything. “People are very flexible right now,” she says. “They’re just saying when’s a good deal, what’s available, and I’m ready to go this week, next week or this month. There’s a lot of last minute travellers right now.”

Renshaw adds that spending a little more on a direct flight can ease added stress when it comes to travelling by avoiding connecting flights to your destination.
