VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Two teams on the outside of the playoff race will clash at Rogers Arena this evening. The Canucks and Red Wings will play their final game before tomorrow’s NHL trade deadline. Jannik Hansen and Ryan Miller have both seen their names pop up in recent trade rumours, but they will both be in the lineup tonight.
Captain Henrik Sedin says Hansen is making the best of it. “He has handled this very well. You try and have fun with it as much as you can. He has handled it tremendously. It is something that hasn’t taken the focus away from hockey for us and that says a lot about him.”

Both teams have been active on the trade market. Vancouver traded Alex Burrows yesterday and today Detroit sent defenceman Brendan Smith to the Rangers for a 2018 second round draft pick and a 2017 third round draft pick.
The Canucks are still juggling their lineup because of injuries and the mumps outbreak. Markus Granlund and Ben Hutton will be in the lineup this evening. Hutton says it was a concerning few days before finding out he didn’t not have the mumps.
“Two days ago in the morning I showed up and I don’t know if it was my chubby cheeks or something, but the guys thought my face looked a little swollen. I went and saw the doctor, got all the tests and it came back negative so I am good to go.”
Chris Tanev and Michael Chaput both tested positive and will be out a few more days. Jacob Markstrom will sit out after suffering an injury during Sunday’s Super Skills competition. The team has called up goalie Richard Bachman and forward Borna Rendulic from the AHL’s Utica Comets.
It’s the second and final meeting of the season between the Canucks and Red Wings. Detroit defeated Vancouver 3-1 on November 10th. Daniel Sedin has the Canucks lone goal.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on Sportsnet.
