Heavy snowfall causes dicey driving conditions on Interior highways

KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) – If you’re heading to the interior this weekend, don’t expect to get there in record time.

About 20 to 30 centimetres of snow is expected to fall on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt and as a result, the highway was closed to northbound traffic for hours. It has since been reopened.

Bob Gilowski with VSA Highway Maintenance says the snowfall warning for the highway has been in effect for a few days, but so far, so good.

“Crews have done a fantastic job keeping up with the snowfall and we did get a bit of a reprieve yesterday.”

Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton is also under a snowfall warning, but if you’re headed north, there are no warnings for the Sea-to-Sky Highway.
